Beyond Reach

Created collaboratively by the tabHu Ensemble under the direction of Roel Voorbij. Why is it so hard to say, “this is enough”? Is it ever enough? Through movement, physical theatre, ensemble storytelling and original text, this project explores humanity’s endless hunger for more: more success, more security, more love, more possessions, more meaning. Drawing on the lived experiences, stories and improvisations of the performers, the work journeys through worlds of abundance and scarcity, revealing the hopes, fears and contradictions that drive us forward. From suburban living rooms and charity food hubs to lonely opal fields and private inner fortresses, a cast of characters searches for the one thing they believe will finally make them whole. But what happens when enough is never enough? Funny, painful, recognisable and deeply human, Beyond Reach invites audiences to examine the desires that shape our lives and the emptiness that can remain when every need seems met.
